Photovoice to Aid in Pilot Study
This pilot study, funded by the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, will support better understanding of health equity for American Indian adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD), identifying areas for future research focused on participation, occupation, and health. The project activities include: developing a community advisory board of individuals interested in health equity of adults with IDD; working with AI adults with IDD and a support person in a photo story-telling project to gain their perspectives on ways to improve their occupation, participation, and health; and identifying potential occupational therapy and other interventions focused on improving health equity. Results of this pilot study will be used to inform future, larger-scale research.
This research has been supported in full with an AOTF Intervention Research Grant (AOTF2016IRG16WILLIAMSON), funded by the American Occupational Therapy Foundation.
